Does anyone have an explanation as to what the light patches are? For example, dark grey stripped off to reveal light grey below, or red lead primer preparatory to repainting dark grey?
By the way, this photo does relate to models - not large scale as usually featured here, but I have a Tri-ang Minic QE painted as she arrived in New York from the UK for the first time. Any alternative and plausible paint scheme is far more interesting in 1/1200 than just plain grey.
