I believe the most important thing to do is to spray on a basic primer/filler car paint - straight from the rattle can. You should then spend time sanding the paint, not the model (unless there is a fault that has to be addressed) and fill any areas that need filling, with a car filler putty. Sand and repeat several times and you will get a good result.
If you are an inexperienced model maker you will find this hard work, if you are a competent model maker, just get used to the idea that you're in for a lot of sanding/painting/filling/sanding etc.
: After reading Roger Dawson's post on the
: Gadila thread, I have ordered some solvent
: free sanding sealer, and have just placed an
: order for 3 "Never-weres" in White
: Strong and flexible from Shapeways, in
: addition to 2 models in FUD from Masters of
: Military recommended by Charles Jones, also
: from Shapeways. When I get everything and
: start to work on them, I will let you know
: how I fared with both groups, and maybe have
: a picture or two for comparison.
