Re: Great White Fleet

Teakwood decks were kept holystoned on a regular basis in those days so they would have been a uniform light grayish tan. The USN didn't use linoleum much so pretty much all walking surfaces would have been planked. The Tamiya tan is a good match, but with Tamiya paints, be sure to use an airbrush- they don't cover too well with a regular paintbrush. Another option is the "old concrete" color that used to be made by Floquil and Pollyscale, but which is pretty scarce these days.
Also USN decks
: I have all of the ships in the Great White
: Fleet. The hulls are naturally white, and
: the decks and everything else above is
: yellow. I want to try and make them more
: realistic, so my question is this: What
: color does the collective wisdom of the
: group think the decks should be? I believe
: they were wooden, possibly teak. A
: weathered grey, perhaps? If you have a
: suggestion, please include which paint
: manufacturer(s) and the stock number, if you
: have it. Thanks. This is a great board.
