As to gun barrels, with really small guns, I have resorted to metal barrels and heating them and actually melting them into position. It holds and looks good, if you are careful. Larger gun barrels I attach by drilling a small hole for the barrel and gluing it in place with superglue. Still not totally stable but much better than surface gluing. I have stopped buying the Strong and flexible white, buying FUD if available of the same ship. Usually at about 60% more.
I have recently seen some models being issued in "polished" strong and flexible material. I haven't tried that yet, and on the 2 I've seen, it is as expensive as the FUD.
: I bought a Gadila on Shapeways printed in the
: "strong and flexible white"
: Unlike the previous "frosted ultra
: detail" models I have attempted, I
: cannot seem to get a smooth surface for
: I have tried the same techniques that I have
: used on the FUD models without success
: (sunlight, lighter fluid, sanding,
: primer, etc). Do you pioneers out there have
: any advice?
: Assuming I can get it painted, I am having
: no luck at all getting plastic strip for the
: gun tubs to adhere. I have tried airplane
: cement and superglue and they break off with
: the slightest touch. I fear that the 20mm
: guns will fall off even easier. Very
: And finally, I have found pictures
: purportedly of both Gadila and Macoma which
: are the same picture so can anyone confirm
: that Gadila's deck id is MR?
: Thanks for any assistance.
