I was pleased with the result after the hard work. I have recently ordered a model in 'plastic' as a result of seeing Paul's CVN in a post below. I expect to do quite a bit of work on that.
: The FUD (Frosted Ultra Detail) models
: generally require very little sanding or
: none at all. I would guess that it depends
: upon the quality of detail that the designer
: puts into his model and maybe the particular
: 3D printer the model is produced on.
: Then some allowances have to be made to
: accommodate the printing processes. There
: are probably others much more familiar with
: the design and manufacturing process.
: However, there are some guidelines that must
: be followed when finishing a FUD model. One
: needs to expose the model to UV light to
: finish the post cure process. I usually set
: my models outside for 2 sunny days and let
: natural sunlight do that for me. You will
: notice the model will take on a frosty white
: type of patina after that. Then I usually
: do a minimum of 2 cleanings with Simple
: Green with an old toothbrush.
: As some of the models as Paul has pointed
: out are of what some would call wargaming
: quality you may wish to add or enhance the
: detail of the model. This would usually
: involve sanding/filling to fit or add the
: additional detail you want.
