FUD and its frosted extreme detail derivative are very finely finished, although they can need some light file and sanding work in places. That white strong and flexible material is most definitely not for good for making fine models. It is war-game grade at best and it is miserable to finish properly. I detest the stuff, though one need not fear breakage...or very much detail. In 1/2400, the RP offerings are extensive and very good. WTJ also makes some excellent prePreads in FUD and FED, and these are available in a wide array of scales. I have been liquidating my 1/1250 collection, but only in such a way that it does not interfere with existing price points. Hey, I'm content with the Atlas and Kriegschiffe models, which to my old eyes look fine. I only have a few thousand 1/1250 models left. I miss them at times, but not too much. I have about 7,000 or so 1/2400, and I like then a great deal. You know, they used to say this hobby is dying, and I was one of those voices who insisted that it is merely changing. I stand by that assessment.
George, old, fat and relatively happy.
: Actually to be correct, FUD, or Frosted Ultra
: Detail is the translucent plastic with the
: matte finish. The other is generally
: called White Strong and Flexible with a
: “slightly grainy finish.” The latter are
: generally less expensive, but the quality is
: usually not as good.

: Is there a cost difference between the clear
: plastic and the FUD?
