Veteran of service on USS Enterprise CV 6, holding a model of the ship that he served on.
Note to Harold Andrews: this is the only photo that I have received so far.
Glad that you had such a successful event on such short notice.
: Yesterday ‘s presentation on behalf of the
: SMSC at the Annual San Jose Veteran’s Day
: Parade and Celebration was a great success.
: The Celebration was held at Santana Row in
: San Jose, a very upscale shopping and
: residential complex. Attendance was
: massive, with a great many displays and
: street artists including representatives
: from “Spirit of 45” and “USS Hornet”. We
: presented two displays: the first being the
: ships of the Battle of Midway — the two US
: carrier task forces and the Japanese 1st Air
: Fleet; while the second was an expanded
: version of the Evolution of the US
: Battleship we presented on the Iowa. Many,
: many people stopped by to chat, learn about
: and admire the models, and be treated to a
: touch of history they didn’t know. The
: highlight of the event, for us, was when a
: WW2 veteran arrived in his wheelchair to
: talk about his history. He served abound
: the USS Enterprise, CV 6, as a “.50 caliber”
: gunner from 1943 through the end of the war.
: We took his photo, wearing his USS
: Enterprise ball cap and holding our model of
: the Enterprise. This photo and others were
: sent to Harald, and hopefully he will post
: them. By the way, we’re enpected back again
: next year.
