Second, if it wasn't for the enthusiastic support of the NorCal membership, SMSC's participation with Spirit would be impossible.
Most importantly, many thanks to all of you for your financial assistance.
: For our get together last Saturday, we had 15
: attendees. This is the best for a summer
: meeting in a few years. And we covered
: almost the whole state of California this
: time, from Fortuna in the north, to
: Sacramento further east and Los Angeles in
: the south. So distance is no excuse for
: other areas of the country trying to
: organize local meetings.
: Despite his leg and back pains, Tom was an
: excellent host. We could not get him to sit
: and rest.
: Our discussions were lively as ever, from
: the state of the hobby, the newest
: developments in 3D printing by Shapeways and
: WTJ. I gave a brief summary of the Kassel
: meeting. Since there has been no further
: discussion about a national meeting this
: year, we are hoping for an East Coast Event
: next year.
: Phil Woodruff is organizing our
: participation again this year at the Spirit
: of '45, San Jose, event. The hours have been
: shortened this year: Saturday, August 5 from
: 12:00 - 4:00PM. We will have the same booth
: as last year with 3 tables under an awning.
: The main display from our San Jose
: contingent will be a diorama of the Japanese
: fleet as it is attempting to disrupt the
: Doolittle Raid. This event promises, again,
: to be very, very interesting. I would like
: to encourage anyone in the area to stop by.
: Our group, as in previous years, is covering
: the $100 rental fee through donations thrown
: into Phil's hat.
: On Saturday, September 23, the Alameda Naval
: Air Museum will host a toy show. They have
: expressed interest to Barry Schrock, for our
: group to attend and display. Barry will
: check further into this.
: On Saturday, October 14, the local IPMS will
: have a show on the USS HORNET. We will try
: to get a table for this event.
: Our next meeting will be on Saturday,
: October 28, at my house. For that meeting,
: we are expecting a visitor from Germany:
: Matti Bröcher, Rhenania Jr., is planning to
: be here. Really looking forward to that.
: Last, but not least, here is my photo album
: of our meeting:
: Photos 1-5: scratch built models from John
: Photo 6: Paul Jacobs for sale
: Photos 7/8: creations and enhancement from
: Don Andrews
: Photos 9-13: dioramas from our host, Tom
: Photos 14/15: some of our participants
: Photos 16-19: small scale dioramas from
: Barry Schrock
: --Previous Message--
: We had our 27th meeting at my house today.
: Fifteen collectors showed up to meet and
: greet. I want to thank everyone for coming
: and making a great meetin.
