Despite his leg and back pains, Tom was an excellent host. We could not get him to sit and rest.
Our discussions were lively as ever, from the state of the hobby, the newest developments in 3D printing by Shapeways and WTJ. I gave a brief summary of the Kassel meeting. Since there has been no further discussion about a national meeting this year, we are hoping for an East Coast Event next year.
Phil Woodruff is organizing our participation again this year at the Spirit of '45, San Jose, event. The hours have been shortened this year: Saturday, August 5 from 12:00 - 4:00PM. We will have the same booth as last year with 3 tables under an awning. The main display from our San Jose contingent will be a diorama of the Japanese fleet as it is attempting to disrupt the Doolittle Raid. This event promises, again, to be very, very interesting. I would like to encourage anyone in the area to stop by. Our group, as in previous years, is covering the $100 rental fee through donations thrown into Phil's hat.
On Saturday, September 23, the Alameda Naval Air Museum will host a toy show. They have expressed interest to Barry Schrock, for our group to attend and display. Barry will check further into this.
On Saturday, October 14, the local IPMS will have a show on the USS HORNET. We will try to get a table for this event.
Our next meeting will be on Saturday, October 28, at my house. For that meeting, we are expecting a visitor from Germany: Matti Bröcher, Rhenania Jr., is planning to be here. Really looking forward to that.
Last, but not least, here is my photo album of our meeting:
