It is a strange scale. Not quite the 1/1000 I want and too big to mix with 1/1250. Moreover, the models are much less detailed than most 1/1250 versions. However, they are vastly less expensive, very forgiving of my bumbling fingers, and finished well enough to make impressive displays--at least for the most part. Chris has sent me a few dozen, and they help make the liquidation of my 1/1250 stash more tolerable. For me, it is time to let go of many things, though I will always remain a collector at heart. There is no turning that off. I also have many F-Toys, Atlas, and Kreigschiffe models, which are very nice indeed and can rival many 1/1250 models. The 1/2000 F-Toy range is better than many 1/2400 models, though perhaps a bit much to assemble for one who has more thumbs than fingers. Still, it is fun to give it a go! Who says the hobby is dying? It is changing and evolving, and with these new lines I see a bright future. Every week, something new comes out, and I could not be happier with the state of miniature ship collecting.
George/ the VERY slow and lame
P.S.: I hope one of you will post pictures of some Eaglemoss models. I cannot seem to master the task any longer, which has become an all too typical occurrence. My brain is withering away, or so they tell me. Soon enough, I might decline enough to become a Republican... Yeah, still irreverent.
